The Redhook Ale Brewery: Defying The Ordinary
Draft beers are what the Redhook Ale Brewery specialize in, with its base of operations set up in Seattle, Washington. Though officially founded in 1981, the Pacific Northwest of the United States saw the first Redhook Ale Brewery's beer in 1982. Fueled with the passion to find the perfect blend of beer, Shipman and Bowker took a chance in making a brewery out of an old transmission repair shop, with the first blends of draft beer from this Redhook Ale Brewery patterned after the spicy variety of Belgian ales. This first generation of beer from the Redhook Ale Brewery was labeled as "banana beer", for the banana like flavor it boasted. It wasn't exactly the "instant hit" kind of beer, as Seattle beer drinkers met the beer type with confused reactions. By 1983, the Blackhook Porter was introduced to Seattle's beer market, and was quite accepted, for its flavor and smoothness. In 1984, another beer type came out from the Redhook Ale Brewery, and was labeled as Ballard Bitter. Today it is known as the IPA from the Redhook Ale Brewery. Soon, the Redhook Ale Brewery purchased the 26,000 square foot structure which was then the Seattle Electric Railway's old building structure, establishing just how successful a beer brand name the Redhook Ale Brewery was. The Trolleyman, a beer brew concoction from this new Redhook Ale Brewery came out as the first breed of beer from this new location. The ESB line of Redhook Ale Brewery's beers came out in 1987. The ESB is the brewery's most popular product, and is often referred to as the flagship product of the brewery. The ESB was, and still is, so popular that it has become a benchmark in the amber ale types of beer. By 1988 a newer, much more advanced, beer brewery was made, boasting the Redhook Ale Brewery name. It was successfully completed with the aid of a German company. All in all, the Redhook Ale Brewery stands as a testament to the truth that if one's brewed beer is good, it is simply good, and is bound to stand tall, along with other beer name giants in the world. |
