    The Basics Of Beer Making

The basics of beer making utilize the basic principle of carbohydrates. Almost anything which contains carbohydrates, particularly starch or sugar, have the properties to undergo natural fermentation, which is one requirement in successful beer making.

Beer stands to be one of the oldest of human made beverages, arguably dating back to 7th millennium BCE. Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia are known to boast written histories mentioning beer, while chemical evidence of ancient beer dates back to 3100 BCE. Bottom line, beer has been around for a long long time now.

One particular thing to note about the beer making is that its ingredients are quite simple to get, but should be the best of its class. For example, the water used in beer making should be purified, with the ideal pH balance.

Another thing worth noting about beer is that, even with exact ingredient measurements, beer batches could yield a different brew from another batch of beer made with the same ingredient measurements. Elements like boiling temperature, boiling time length, fermenting temperature and fermenting length, actually affect the whole beer making process.

The basics of beer making starts with getting the four basic ingredients of beer, water, barley, yeast and hops, as well as the gathering of beer making equipment, which can be specialized equipment or not. Once the beer ingredients, as well as beer making equipment are available, the whole beer making process can start.

The most essential of beer making equipments include a brewing kettle, sparge bags, and a fermentation container, often referred to as fermenters. Funnels and other tubing materials would also greatly aid a beer making excursion, but aren't exactly necessary in accomplishing a beer making project. These items though, would greatly aid the flow of the entire beer making operation.

Letting the barley release sugars is the first step in beer making, and is done by filtering the barley, ideally using a pipe. Mixing it, and eventually mashing it with water, is what follows, ideally doing the whole mashing in a metal pot or bowl. Sparging follows next, and with the aid of a sparge bag, which is basically the act of re-circulating the mix through a filter and adding more water. Once done, the mix is broiled for about 90 minutes in the brewing kettle, which ideally allows steam to circulate inside. Hops is then added, and once done, the mix is drained, separating the water from the solids.

Yeast is then added into the water, and the mix is left to ferment inside the fermenter.

With the right tools and the right knowhow, beer making is actually fast and easy. One reason why it has prevailed as being one of the most popular beverages in the world.
